Kanyakumari-Kashmir Round Trip - Day 3 - Alappuzha & Mahe

Day 2 - Alappuzha & Mahe (stay in Mahe)

Kilometers covered - 320 Kms

Walking - less than 3000 steps (it was predominantly a drive day - 320 KMS in 11+ hours (lovely roads and traffic sense)

Super duper sleep :) Instant tea-mix and kettle helped us sipping ginger flavored beverage (5.30 AM) - Namaste brand Adhrak Chai (the caption of the brand was super - AUTHENTICALLY LOCAL)

Our boatman (Kalyani Boat) - refer day 2 for his contact called sharply by 5.45 AM to check whether we're ready :)

We stepped out and observed that it had rained the previous night. A pleasant morning and the boatman said that it will be 3 hour ride, we convinced him after explaining our itinerary to do just 1.25 hours of boating. We started by 6.30 AM  and back to the homestay by 8 AM for checkout. 







We had breakfast in Alleppey Saravana Bhavan - Idli / Dosa / Filter Coffee. Bought grapes, apple & nenthran banana for lunch and proceeded towards Mahe after filling CNG in Kerala State Civil Supplies Corpn IOCL bunk . Somewhere near Calicut, we re-fuelled the vehicle (CNG) in Aroma Petrols - IOCL pump

A super duper incident occured 90 kms before Mahe. A Suzuki Access took a right turn without hand-signs and indicator. We managed applying brakes, however mildly hit the 2 wheeler; the rider and pillion escaped without any injury. Within few minutes, a big crowd gathered and started demanding money for the damages. The two wheeler got scratches mildly, we convinced the rider and took them to the nearest service center without raising voices. It's very important to stay calm and patient in these situations, we spoke to the rider and convinced him instead of focusing on the crowd demands. We settled the damage cost despite not being at fault. We have a big journey ahead and we didn't waste time justifying. No damages to our vehicle - god's grace (kadavul irukaan kumaaru)

Reached Mahe around 6 PM and spent 30 minutes in Sunset Walkway near Mahe Beach and stayed at French Avenue, Mahe

Day 23 - Haridwar - Neelkant - Rishikesh - Haridwar (sta y in Haridwar) Kilometers Covered - 155 KMs Walking - 10000+ steps The day started with a dip in Ganga followed by breakfast in a cart - hot idlis, chutney & sambar . We left the hotel by 7.30 AM and stopped near Ganga Barrage - water was gushing through the barrage, it was a beautiful sight. Neelkanth Mahadev Mandir,  is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nilkanth, an aspect of Lord Shiva. The temple is about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple architecture is very much influenced by the Dravidian style  and is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site. Day 1 - Kovai - Kovilapatti - Kazhugumalai - Nellai - Kanyakumari, stay in Kanyakumari Kilometers covered - 475 Walking - around 8000 steps After all the planning, it's time to execute :) Pls read WE as Krishna & Mahadevan :) We were supposed to assemble in RVS Indian Oil Bunk , Sulur @ 9.30 AM I started by 8 AM to pick Mahadevan in his home (hoping to have bfast enroute) and as always, forgot to carry the 7.5L Milton flask and water ( a must for summer travel > 10 days). However, when I realized it was missing, I was already 5 KMs away from home. Called Mahadevan, asked him to come in 2 wheeler (before he coud reach, I had couple of idlies and poori in a cart).
