Kanyakumari-Kashmir Round trip - Day 9 - Udaipur - Nathdwara - Jaipur
Day 9 - Udaipur - Nathdwara - Jaipur (stay in Jaipur)
Kilometers covered - 430 KMs
Walking - 17000+ steps
Started the day with Udaipur Jagdish temple darshan (around 6 AM). It's a huge temple in the heart of the city. Udaipur is often called as "City of Lakes".
Post the trek, we saw a group of women doing their daily yoga and exercise routine. Had a conversation with the group discussing about fitness and travel. They posted few questions and wished us luck for the 34 day expedition.
Before going to the hotel for complimentary break-fast and checkout, we visited Pichola Lake and Jag Mandir Lake Viewpoint.
Had complimentary breakfast (poha, bread butter toast), check-out from the hotel. We had informed the security for a car wash the previous evening. The car was ready, we checked-out and proceeded to Udaipur City Palace. It requires lot of walking to cover all the areas of the palace.
It was built over a period of nearly 400 years, with contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty. Its construction began in 1553, started by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia Rajput family as he shifted his capital from the erstwhile Chittor to the newfound city of Udaipur. The City Palace in Udaipur was built in a flamboyant style and is considered the largest of its type in the state of Rajasthan. It was built atop a hill, in a fusion of the Rajasthani Rajput architecture providing a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.
We started to Jaipur by around 10.30 AM and luckily we witnessed a huge Lord Shiva statue near Nadhwara, Rajasthan. We later found out that it was the tallest Lord Shiva statue in the world. A very clean and tidy - nicely maintained "Statue of Belief''.
By noon, we took off from Nadhwara and had couple of CNG filling en-route Jaipur. Choudhry Chaganlal & Sons - IOCL pump, Nadhwara and Khoja Indian Oil - Ajmer, Rajasthan
We reached Jaipur around 4.30 PM and visited City Palce, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal. You would see umpteen food carts around Hawa Mahal - we had multi falvored gol gappa, fruit chat, jal jeera etc..,
We settled in Treebo Bliss, Jaipur by 8 PM. Ordered plain rice to go with homemade puliyogare, dal powder and curd for dinner :)
Luv,
Krishna & Mahadevan
