Kanyakumari-Kashmir Round trip - Waterfall Day 20 - Manali - Jana - Chandigarh

Day 20 - Manali - Jana - Chandigarh (stay in Chandigarh)

Kilometers covered - 365 KMs

Walking - 12000+ steps

Jogini waterfalls, Manali, Himachal Pradesh - a beautiful waterfalls became famous after the movie 96 in Tamilnadu. A multiple layered waterfalls - predominantly the public visit the first 2 layers. There are 2 ways to reach the fall - one is from the temple (structured pathway) and you could view the fall remotely and the other is through the falls gully (this will take you to all the layers)

We went through the gully and water was gushing all over with multiple pipelines for public usage. We had Chai and started the trek by 6.15 AM. The lower level was closed, however the path to other layers were open. We were surprised to see so many views of the waterfall passage - it was simply superb :)

After climbing few meters, we were able to see the alternate passage on the other side of the hill. We spent some time taking photographs and started to trek to the next phase. A solo traveller joined us (he was unsure whether there'll be anything admirable during the trek). After few minutes of trek, there were 2 paths. We took the right side one and was taken by surprise watching the fantabulous fall - wowww!!!! The solo traveller felt super happy witnessing the same and thanked us for recommending the trek - else he would have been one the 80% who leave the place after watching the lower base.

The trek to the top most waterfall was very scary and doubtful (because we were all alone and the solo traveller didn't turn up for the last leg). My inner mind was pushing hard to continue the trek, however Mahadevan was a bit doubtful. We couldn't find any traces of the waterfall during the trek, however going by the angle of the hill - I was pretty sure we'll reach the summit. I asked Mahadevan to wait midway and started rushing up the trek. For the most part, you'll see yourself trapped inside the hill because there was noone around to seek help on the route. A blind turn, then I saw the natural masterpiece. No words!!! Awestruck!!!!

Ran towards the valley and shouted aloud - "Mahadevaaaaaa - follow the pathway, you'll see heaven here"..... he reached the spot after 15 minutes and I was enjoying the waterfall and surroundings. A couple was there near the fall - travel enthusiasts and they were surprised seeing me alone and so was I. We were conversing until Mahadevan came. He was as excited and surprised as I after seeing the waterfall. You might have so many worries & dreams in life and I guarantee that every other thought gets parked out of the mind while seeing this waterfall. We left the place forcing our mind and heart and it was like a schoolboy moment - with all such worries to go back to school after holidays :(

We were super duper hungry after the early morning trek. We visited a South Indian restraurant run by locals only to get disappointed. Ordered Idly (it was tangy, small) and dosa (chutney and sambar didn't meet even half of the expectation - too watery) Kumudhaaaa - unhappy annachi :(

We informed the family to get ready and to wait in the main road - to our surprise, they went to the same hotel for breakfast :) We took some time to wash the car - a powerful hose was there in a private parking space. The owner of the parking lot use the electric pressure hose for his car washing (we saw that during the trek) and approached him. He obliged and helped us.

Mahadevan took the i20 & I took our Ertiga. We fuelled both our vehicles in Neelkamal IOCL filling station, Kullu.

Sajla waterfalls - another beauty (you have so many fun events around this fall, you have water-side restaurants and there are carved wooden seats available within the water area as well. A photographer's paradise, we could see many people spending time on photographs (different angles and poses)

The next stop was at Jana waterfalls, situated in a village named Jana. The path to Jana was very tricky - steep, narrow roads. It requires lot of patience to let the upcoming vehicles through frequent stops and reverse driving :) The village was naturally gifted to have waterfalls on all the sides and we could see many streams throughout the place. There were 5-6 waterfalls and it requires some trek and walking. Had couple of lemon sodas and flavored milk. We left Jana by 1.15 PM.

We stopped in the highway for lunch around 2.30 PM - boondi raita, panner khati roll, veg biriyani and green salad.

It started drizzling followed by frequent traffic stoppages (hearfelt pranams to the politician visit - for every other politician in the country - if you want to finish your work only by disturbing the public, better do it online or through local delegates. We'll be happy - not a single public praised the visit, rather could hear only curses of all kind - words from A to Z)

While it was turning dark, it started raining heavily. NH3 got closed on account of landslide and we got diverted midway into a ghat section (alternate route). The 20 KM stretch was totally dark and no proper visibility because it was pouring - one hell of a ride :) It was super thrilling and a bit scary at the same time. After a lot of struggle, we managed to reach Chandigarh by 10.15 PM. We bid goodbye to the family, exchanged greetings and numbers :)

We were extremely thankful to Hotel Yolo, Chandigarh. They waited for us until 10.30 PM and prepared a dinner thali - roti, chawal, paneer curry, aloo fry, curd etc.., definitely the best place in terms of hospitality in this entire journey - love you guys :)

Luv,

Krishna & Mahadevan
