Kanyakumari-Kashmir Round trip - Day 14 - Dalhousie - Mahanpur - Udhampur - Srinagar

Day 14 - Dalhousie - Ranjith Sagar Dam - Mahanpur - Udhampur - Srinagar (stay in Srinagar)

Kilometers covered - 380 KMs

Walking - less than 3000 steps

We checked out & had a masala chai in Banikhet junction. The plan was to service the car and reach Srinagar by evening. We were advised to go via Ranjith Sagar Dam interior road. There were 2 gates for the dam and we took the wrong one initially. The security guards stopped us and instructed us regarding the interior road procedures (low speed, lot of bends etc..,) They guided us to the correct gate - we were questioned about name, place, animal, thing - lolzzz. 

After enquiry, we went inside the dam road - it was curvy, moderately rugged and steep. We went to the other side of the dam and just near the viewpoint - we saw a small shop. Went and checked there - a young man was selling hot maggi and steamed black channa with loads of chopped onion :)




I called up Jammu Motors - Maruti Suzuki Arena dealer, Mahanpur, Jammu and fixed an appointment for vehicle service. Informed them that we just need wheel rotation and oil change. It was a new service outlet and our's was the first Ertiga CNG there. We were surprised to see a senior technician who worked in Gurgaon Maruti factory :) We felt comfortable that the vehicle is in safe hands. We supervised the service in person as it was the only car in the garage that day :) The hospitality of the manager and technical knowledge of the senior technician require special applauds.

On the way to Udhampur, gulped few sugarcane juices - surrrpppp...an hour later lunch in Udhampur, Jammu - very yummy - spicy mattar panner, rice, curd and pickle - 1.30 PM

After crossing Udhampur - we witnessed one of the most traffic prone truck route in India (Udhampur - Srinagar highway). I have never seen so many trucks ever in my life - OMG!!!! Adding fuel to the hot traffic is the NH roadworks :( we literally got annoyed and frustrated :( However, we enjoyed all the tunnel rides - super duper

Dust, sandstorm because of the road laying materials, drizzles, traffic made us literally sweat for the rest of the day. We reached Srinagar by 8.30 PM and for the first time during this trip - we used headlights - lolz






Settled in New Heaven Canal hotel, Srinagar. A brisk walk followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. Roti and Kadai Paneer. The paneer was soft and juicy :) - Good nighted by 9.45 PM

Kanyakumari - Kashmir Round trip - Final Day 34 - Hogenakal - Salem - Coimbatore

Final Day 34 - Hogenakal - Salem - Coimbatore Kilometers Driven - 275 KMs Walking - around 4000 steps As expected, we couldn't enjoy our yesterday's visit to the Hogenakal falls because of crowd. However, we got up early and went to the falls by 6 AM - Cauvery Snan to complete the trip It was deserted and we were the only one to take a dip so early there. It felt like a private falls - no crowd. We spent around 40 minutes in the falls - wowww!!!! This would be the ideal time to visit the falls - you can plan it accordingly.  We came back and had the complimentary breakfast in Hotel Tamilnadu - :) Our initial plan was to reach Coimbatore via village routes until Sankagiri. However, one of my friend requested to bring a small parcel from Salem. We visited Salem and took the parcel, refilled CNG in Salem Dist Lorry Owners Association IOCL pump - Unit 2 near Periya Seeragapadi, Salem. Kanyakumari-Kashmir Round trip - Waterfall Day 20 - Manali - Jana - Chandigarh

Day 20 - Manali - Jana - Chandigarh (stay in Chandigarh) Kilometers covered - 365 KMs Walking - 12000+ steps Jogini waterfalls, Manali, Himachal Pradesh - a beautiful waterfalls became famous after the movie 96 in Tamilnadu. A multiple layered waterfalls - predominantly the public visit the first 2 layers. There are 2 ways to reach the fall - one is from the temple (structured pathway) and you could view the fall remotely and the other is through the falls gully (this will take you to all the layers) We went through the gully and water was gushing all over with multiple pipelines for public usage. We had Chai and started the trek by 6.15 AM. The lower level was closed, however the path to other layers were open. We were surprised to see so many views of the waterfall passage - it was simply superb :) After climbing few meters, we were able to see the alternate passage on the other side of the hill.
